Alt Barcodes and SKUs
ALTERNATE BARCODES AND CSPC
To keep your product database organized, Barnet allows you to assign multiple UPC barcodes and CSPC numbers to a single product. This eliminates the need to create a new item when a product arrives with a different UPC or CSPC—particularly useful in Alberta, where SKUs often vary by CSPC.
By associating all alternate UPCs and CSPCs with the same SKU, Barnet ensures that your Sales, Receiving, and Reporting remain consolidated and accurate.
The Connect Logistics website helps identify alternate versions of your regular SKUs. These are flagged with an “S” status when preparing to export your confirmed order files. The “S” indicates that a different product code—usually a CSPC change or promotional packaging—is being substituted. In your Connect order file, these substituted lines appear in yellow.
To manage these substitutions efficiently:
Sort by Status in the Connect order file by clicking the column header.
Before importing your Connect invoice into Barnet, add any alternate CSPCs to the existing product SKU.
This ensures Barnet assigns the receiving quantities to your current SKU, without prompting you to create a new product.

Note: If a product is permanently switching to a new CSPC, update the primary CSPC in <Product Maintenance> so all future orders use the correct SKU.
Managing Alternate UPCs and CSPCs
To add an alternate UPC or CSPC:
Go to the ‘Alt Barcodes/SKUs’ tab within the product’s <Product Maintenance> page.
You can view and manage all alternate barcodes and CSPCs from the ‘Alt Barcode/SKU Table’ under the ‘Product’ dropdown menu.
