DISCOUNTS IN BARNET LITE

Product Based Discounts

In addition to front-end till buttons for common discounts (e.g., 5% or 10% off), you can also set product-specific discounts in the Product Maintenance>Discount tab.

You can define:

  • A Discounted Price (e.g., sale price of $8.99)

  • A Discount Amount (e.g., $1.00 off)

  • A Discount Percentage (e.g., 15% off)

Quantity-Based Discounts & 2For Pricing

You can set multi-unit pricing or 2-for deals using the Price 2 field.

Example:

Buy 2 bottles of wine → $10.00 per bottle

Steps:

  • Set the Qty Trigger (e.g., 2)

  • Enter the special Price 2 value (e.g., $10.00)

This discount will automatically apply at the till when the required quantity is purchased.

Scheduling Discounts

You can schedule a discount to be active for a specific date range.

Steps:

  • In the Product Maintenance>Discount tab, click in the ‘Start-End Date’ field.

  • Use the calendar to select the Start Date and End Date.

  • Confirm both dates are highlighted in blue, and the full range appears in the dropdown.

Prohibiting Discounts and Discount Rules

Discuss discount rules with your Barnet CSR during onboarding. Most stores configure their system to prevent double discounting and allow only the best available discount.

Example:

  • Product is on sale for 10% off

  • Customer has a 20% automatic discount

→ System applies 20% off regular price, not 20% off the sale price.

Discount Restriction Options (in <Product Maintenance>):

  • Staff Discount Exempt: Blocks staff/customer group discounts on the product.

  • Discount Exempt: Prevents any discount, including Till buttons.

  • Flyer Discount Only: Allows only the product-programmed discount; overrides other discounts.

⚠️ Use Flyer Discount Only if you allow double discount but want to restrict this product to a specific promotion.

Category-Level Restrictions:

  • Entire categories can be marked Discount Exempt via Category Setup.

Reports of Discounts

You can view discount data in multiple reports:

  • Summary Report: Shows total discounts applied over a period.

  • Discount Report: Located under the Reports>Sales menu. Use this to review detailed discount activity for a specific time range
